Endless week at summer camp - part 1

LAZY LIFE FLOWERS AND BEAUTIFUL TAIWAN Alex, United States Last Sunday I sat on a train and traveled to the northeastern part of Taiwan, where I had to work out a week in summer camp. I decided to save money, and instead of having to buy tickets for high-speed train, sat down to normal, which is twice as long, but a ticket for it is two times cheaper. I'm staring out the window, ate, read and slept on the road, which took six hours. In the last hour of his journey from Taipei (the capital of Taiwan, approx. Perevi.) Train to the city of Ilan made a detour and headed to the eastern coast of Taiwan. Away from the window, behind which to me appeared a wonderful panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, it was impossible. The train arrived in Milan about five o'clock, and as the camp staff was due to appear at the station only six, I decided to go to the beach. It was not as easy as I imagined. I had no card, besides I had to drag himself to his rather heavy backpack. Eventually, I stopped in a cafe and waited for a call from a man camp. (There was something funny in that big white woman with a huge rucksack wandered around the small town. I've got used to the fact that in the town of Kaohsiung at me from time to time staring, but then people just stayed in place like a petrified, staring to me until I walked past). Pacific Ocean about six in the evening I received a call from the coordinator of the camp and said he only went from Taipei, and I'd better take a taxi and go to the camp itself. Upon arrival, I realized that reality in this summer camp will be much different from my expectations. The camp was a "rural resort", which actually means "bed and breakfast on a hillside with several pets, a pair of fruit trees and lots of beetles." Camp owner showed me a map of the hotel and gave the farm. I left my things in the room, and since it was still light, went to the main road. The ocean was on the other end of the farm, but still I really wanted to get there. Along the beaches were large cement blocks, so that I could only look at the ocean and swim was not the slightest possibility. Beaches, where we could swim and surf, is farther down the road, but where was I had only some suspicious sites coast, which were similar to the fishing grounds. It took me about half an hour to get to the beach, but just at that moment beginning to get dark and I had to return to camp. I talked with the coordinator before that you go to bed, we agreed to meet him at 8:30 in the morning and at lunch to talk about what I actually had to deal with here. So close and so is not available! On Monday morning I woke up and went to a meeting with the coordinator. It was too late. I started to worry because I saw how the bus came with children, and I still had no idea what I should do. At 9:30 kooordinator finally came down. He immediately asked me to call him by the nickname "Grasshopper", which he got because ever walked in sportswear "Air Jordan" (the brand's logo is the silhouette of a jumping man, ca. Perevi.) I realized that my work in the camp will not be unduly strained. I do not know, so it always runs the camp, but Grasshopper said it was the last shift this summer, and came to a total of 12 children. On Monday, I did not have to teach anyone anything. I just had to interview. Interviews are usually conducted to determine in which class will be a student, but since there were only 12 children, were divided by age, rather than their abilities. So, I had three hours with six older boys in the morning and three hours with the younger group after lunch. Such a division is much harder for me to plan lessons, because in the same class I had children, one of whom spoke in English very fluently, and the other hardly associate the two words in a week. For each group of six children was confirmed by two counselors from Taiwan. At first I thought that the counselors had to help me, but in the end it turned out that in English they spoke was even worse than some of the children. Apparently, their job was to bother me all the time to photograph. This was clearly a summer camp in Taiwanese style. Counselors photographed the children and then sending them CDs with pictures, that their parents could see what they were doing. I was told that I should be given to children as much as possible of the material that they, when they return home, were able to show how many new things they learned. Day the children began with the fact that they measured the temperature that was recorded in a special journal. After lunch the children getting out their cell phones and communicate with parents. Frequently crowed over their mobile during dinner, and they were talking, sitting at the table. I believe it could not! All this does not seem to be on those summer camps, in which I went to ... they have the rooms were even TVs! Deadline for material:
