Through the whole of Spain on foot - part 2

THE WAY OF ST JAMES: THE ROAD AS A TEST OF THE SOUL AND BODY (continued, p.2) Background In Australia, Zoe read about the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), the famous pilgrims' road to the tomb of the apostle James, one of the three main pilgrimage routes of Christianity. We have for some time been in Europe, and the projects that we wanted to work in this time of year have not yet been started, and we decided to start our journey. It was not an easy test, especially when you consider that we had only 30 days to overcome the route. Having evaluated different options for the campaign, the distance and terrain, we decided to start in the city of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, which is located in the French part of the Pyrenees, and go all the way (800 miles) to the city of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This meant that on the day we had to pass through 30 kilometers, and rest days will be very little, if any, will be. Again the rain, of course, those who will follow our route, the journey should be calculated for a longer period, to have enough time to recover from the blisters, injuries, or simply to enjoy the beauty of great cities, which will meet on the road. We should also note that there are serious pros and cons in order to make a similar trip in November - we did not want to go the way of St. James in the summer, when many people tend to make the pilgrimage, and when especially hot that few people pleasantly. Apparently, September or October - is also a good time for this hike. And we had to go through the ordeal of weather, because the way we overcame a few passes, one of which we found the heavy snowfall. Some of the pilgrims who came for us and even got a snowdrift. Why is a beautiful morning, we and other people are on the path of St. James We do not religious, so religion does not lay the basis for our decision to make a trip. Most pilgrims start out on personal or spiritual reasons, which rarely had something to do with religious movements. We had a number of other reasons to make this journey. First, the pilgrimage - one of the cheapest forms of travel to Europe and, secondly, it is a good opportunity to get the body and mind work together: to bring everything with them, that we may need for a month in small backpacks (7-9 kg) , to escape briefly from the society of consumption (of shops on the way very few!). It is also a great opportunity to walk, meditating, since nothing else to do - just go and think about taking advantage of this opportunity. And we wanted to practice Spanish - for this was the most opportune time, because in November on this path mostly pilgrims from Spain. Not that summer, when the route is literally filled with thousands of people from around the world. Pilgrims on the road have other people we met on the Way, had his own reasons to make the pilgrimage: someone wanted to do something positive while looking for work, someone recently lost a loved one, someone is willing to make a decision that could change his life and he needed time to think things through, someone committed cultural trip, and someone just wanted to make the largest walking tour of his life. Few people set off for religious reasons, but almost every campaign has had its spiritual component, it is very personal. And yet we have heard some lively debate on this issue, one of them remember the most. It took place between the Hare Krishnas, and a Catholic (well, actually sounds like a bad joke), a beautiful small town Start material: Read more:
