Madagascar - an island reserve chameleons and lemurs - Part 3

In Search of Lemuria, and frogs (continued, part 3) Another state nature reserve in a pair of Andasibe National Park is Mantadiya. It comes not so many tourists because of its remoteness (more than an hour ride on a broken road, which does not go to public transport) and less constructed nature. We Donna tried to find other tourists who would want to enter with us in the share of payment for travel by car, but everyone with whom we spoke to, or have already booked his tour, or do not want to go to Matadi. I decided to still go there. Right, not every day I come to Madagascar. Sleep chameleon While driving through a bumpy road in Mantadiyu Donna showed me a guide to the chameleon, proudly pointing to his name in the list of authors. We drove past the hotel "Wacona Forest Lodge, the most luxurious in the area, drawing attention to the" Island of Lemurs "where tourists are fed up a couple of cats lemur maki. (The island of lemurs - small reserved area bounded by a moat, which contain the wounded or sick of lemurs, as well as some other animals, prim.perev.) Donna muttered darkly that the poppies are not very good, and that many of them, apparently will die due to the fact that the attempted improper food. Golden lemur In the beginning we met two Englishmen, bird lovers, who, surprisingly, were my neighbors in the hotel, but they were the only people we met in the park Mantadiya. The main trails here were in the same condition as the side tracks in the park Analamazaotra, and secondary would not prevent prorubka with a machete. Whereas love Donna to walk straight, I was sure that everything is over the fact that we wander for some animal trails. The park was a lot of birds, but not for them I came here. Motley Mantell We Donna agreed on the fact that the main object of our campaign will be black and white furry lemurs, Syphax, or crested Indra and very beautiful frog with no less beautiful name motley Mantell. Several times he disappeared into the bush for 20 minutes, returning with sour due to the fact that once again nothing interesting was found. After the longest of his absence, during which I stood, studying the forest around me, in this case, and no making out anything other than a pair of birds, he came back and casually pointed to the brown lemur, chewing the leaves on one of the neighboring trees. Of course, the lemur is not sitting on my head, but it proves once again how his eyes revealed the secrets of the rainforest, and as far as I am blind to these mysteries. Where do you creep? We are still lucky when one of the scientific staff of the park showed us where the sleeping black and white furry lemur. It is located on the top of the fig tree, not to say that nothing less visible, but with binoculars it was very clearly visible. Unfortunately, diademnye safiki hid from us, though we heard their cries of alarm remote. It is very noisy creatures. («Propithecus diadema» - one of the most beautiful species of lemurs living on Madagascar, prim.perev.) Searches colorful Mantella occupied a large part of the tour. This frog is small and hidden under fallen leaves, so finding it is not easy. Donna knew a few places where it could find. In one of these places were so voracious mosquitoes that my legs, which I smeared DEET (chemical agent having a repellent effect - prim.perev.), They are seen as a favorite treat. Unfortunately, the secret places where they could hide the frog due to lack of recent rain, were too dry and unsuitable for amphibians. We moved from one place to another, each time staying with empty hands. However, Donna did not give up, and his perseverance finally paid off. Returning with another of his forays, he cleared the land on leaves and twigs, and carefully placed it on his disgruntled colorful Mantella. Motley Mantell, we've been looking for you! The pictures that I came across earlier, I think I imagined how beautiful this frog, but in the lives of its refined forms, and black, red, yellow and white strips look like perfection itself. This photo was one of my favorite shots that I brought from Madagascar. Near Analamazaotroy is another nature reserve, which is called the Forest Park Mitsinho Analamazaotra. It is ruled by non-governmental organization. I have not had time to get there during the day, but fortunately, there is an opportunity to take part in a night hike on the reserve. Forest trail My guide was able to find various animals, but his English was just awful. I was afraid that he will start asking me questions, because I had no idea what he was saying. The language barrier became a problem during my stay in Madagascar. None of my guides did not speak in English well enough that I did not have much to simplify their speech. Rainforest Park Mitsinho more like a social organization than state parks, so it seems somewhat more supportive of patrons and sponsors. However, the fact that my guide is not spoke French, was very depressing. Another drawback is that the area of ??the park is located on a slope. At night it becomes a serious problem, because you instead look for animals, to shine under his feet so as not to stumble. We saw several chameleons, lemurs glowing eyes, but the language barrier spoil all impression. Many, many different chameleons Park Andasibe became my most favorite place in Madagascar, and I would again like to come here. But soon my flight to Johannesburg, and I reluctantly pack to go back to Antananarivo, I still have one, this time last trip on a taxi-beam on this wonderful island. Start material:
