Juliet's house, as well as opera, wine, and the Church - Part 3

Travel in Verona: from bad to ... Best (continued, part 3) The second half of the day we spent in the garden, Giardino juz. He was defeated in 1570, and today it looks like in those days. The idea is the one who got into the garden and climbed into the upper part of it, was to achieve enlightenment on the road. About ten people from our group proceeded along this path and were rewarded with wonderful views over the city. At the top is a large stone lion that once belched flames. Probably, it was very spectacular. Garden Giardino juz back at the hotel, drinking a cold beer and taking a shower, I was ready for dinner. We boarded a minibus and went to dinner at the castle of Castel San Pietro. We are again expecting a wonderful view over the city, but the dinner was much better than last night. My table (I know - surprise, surprise) turned out to be very noisy. We have forgotten the old adage that you should not discuss religion or politics with strangers, and the whole evening just discussing these two topics. It was lots of laughter and great Italian Soave (sort of wine, approx. Perevi.). In the evening at the opera gave "Carmen." Despite the fact that the vocals were not as good as during the performances, which I watched recently, everything was wonderful. On the stage were a lot of singers and dancers, and heard a familiar melody. I really liked it, and I am glad that the first opera I listened in Verona, was my favorite "Carmen". Carmen The next morning I woke up in a much more positive mood than last yesterday. Along with several members of my group, I drank coffee, and soon was ready to hit the road. We walked around the city and came to the Duomo di Verona, the cathedral of Verona. And although the council did not make the same deep impression, as those churches that we have seen the day before, he is still in its own way beautiful. Its facade is a great product, it is decorated with wonderful carved ornaments, among which there is one, which depicts Jonah (Biblical prophet, approx. Perevi.) In the belly of the sea monster. Well, at least, it is believed that it was so. Although it's even funny. Duomo di Verona, I stood a little apart from the group took pictures and listened to Michael. Suddenly I turned and saw her. It was the painting "The Ascension of the Virgin Mary" (the image of the altar by one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance, Titian, painted in 1535, approx. Perevi.). It strongly stands against the backdrop of murals and other artwork. Its colors - gorgeous, face - stunning, the composition - is unique. It turned out that I have good taste. This is a Titian, and the price for entrance to the cathedral is more than compensated view of this picture. I could not tear his eyes from her. It is interesting that, as it turned out, the cathedral was built on the ruins of the Roman period. Knowledgeable people say that there is likely to have baths and a temple of the goddess Minerva (the Roman goddess of wisdom, approx. Perevi.). We were even allowed to go down and look at what's left of the Romans. There were tiled floors and carvings. I've already talked about it and say more than once. Such places are sacred. I am very pleased to think that different people worship different gods for hundreds of years on the same floor on which I'm going. Such places help me feel connected with the universe. Then we went to the Roman theater, stopping on the way to coffee. For the coffee was too hot, so I drank with Peter (another smoker in our group), a water bottle. We are with him from time to time quietly took to the streets to indulge in this horrible habit of laughing at the way a child's look of our outing. Theatre Theatre was great. Here, as well as in the arena, still put the pieces, mostly Shakespeare. It is built on a hill on the riverbank. Hence, a great view over the city. Next to the theater is the Archaeological Museum. Not the best of those that I saw, but there are some interesting findings. Monument to Shakespeare soon time for me to decide. My whole group went over, but I really would have liked to walk in Verona. And now, after a tense internal dialogue (did not want to miss anything), I decided to stay in the city. I went to the Piazza Bra and found a cafe where you can sit, eat and watch what is happening around them. The best choice on the menu was pizza, which with excess would be enough to feed a family of four. I managed to eat about a third before I admitted defeat. I really wanted to sit there all afternoon, to watch people and drink good wine, but the tourist in me still won, and I went on. Of course, I went on a bus tour around the city. It was one of the most uninteresting excursion in which I have ever be. However, in the end we got out of town on a hilltop with a magnificent view over the city. It is these kinds of cost and the entire tour. Start material: Read more:
