"Grand Slam" Denali Park - Part 1

The wild beauty of ALASKA Janis and Larry Andersen, the U.S. coming to an end two weeks of our stay in Alaska. Ahead of us was another important event - a trip to Denali National Park, which is rightfully considered the pearl of Alaska. Mount Denali is sometimes called Mount McKinley. This mountain is the highest in North America. It is located in the heart of Alaska and a member of the Alaska Mountain Range. In the vicinity of this mountain top is a National Park and Preserve Denali. Thousands of tourists come here by car, train or small aircraft. We decided to get into Denali on the machine. From the town of Chugiak to Denali to go quite a long time. Was scheduled to leave early in the morning and spend the night in the town of Healy, who is close to the national park. The next morning we were supposed to go on a bus tour through the park, and then come back to Healy and spend the night there. We go back home, slightly changing the route. Filling portable fridge with all sorts of goodies on Sunday morning, we hit the road. Along the way we decided to drive into the city of Talkeetna, only slightly deviating from the planned route. Can you remember the TV series "Northern Exposure", which went from 1990 to 1995. There was told the story of one doctor comes from the continental states, "forced to go to work in remote Alaska in the fictional town of Cicely crazy. In fact, all shooting the series were held in the town of Roslyn, Wash., and in Alaska's crew was not even once. However, many believe that the prototype was just Cicely town Talkeetna. Anyway, Talkeetna is considered one of the weird small towns in Alaska. Dick and elk But there Talkeetna and the serious side of life. Near the town is the airport, which serves as a base for mountain climbs on Denali. Planes taking off on the ski gear out of Talkeetna and land on the glacier Kahiltna, providing all the necessary basic mountain camp. The town lies at the confluence of three rivers - Chulitna, Susitny and Talkeetna. Location of the city makes it ideal for sightseeing flights, riding water scooters, mountain biking, outdoor activities, hiking, hunting and fishing. City of Talkeetna was established in 1919 and recently listed as historical monuments USA. Elks I first came to Talkeetna in the winter 1985 I was then less than an hour to explore the town before my engine Cessna 152 (an easy two-seater, approx. Perevi.) Cooled to 10 degrees of frost, and start problems running it. After visiting a local department store Negliz "I felt like thick wood planks caved under the weight of my body. After wandering back and forth, wanting to do something symbolic purchase, I chose a cold jar of cola, which stood in a large refrigerator. Despite the fact that the bank was cold, my hands felt from her a strange warmth. I remember a big pack of milk for $ 5. Entrance to the park Denali We arrived in Talkeetna in the morning was rain. Rather quickly managed to find a suitable place where they could leave the car to walk around the city. Traditionally, we were photographed against a background of roughly executed a wooden sign, which read "The beautiful city of Talkeetna. The city had more tourists than during my winter visit. My friend Dick poglazel on display, and then we all went to the store "Negliz. Having crossed the threshold, we felt like thick wood planks caved in under our weight. Ah, good old 1985-nd! The store had more booths with goods than it did during my first visit, but there are still selling milk in a large package of $ 5 per gallon (3.78 liters, approx. Perevi.). Further down the street, we bought fresh rolls, back to the car and continued on their way to Denali. Typing speed out of town, we had to brake to avoid colliding in thick black bear, which ran across the road and disappeared into the woods. A good sign, beasts themselves were to us. Read more:
