Church boredom and cave fun - part 2

Krakow, Auschwitz, Budapest (continued, p.2) The next morning I woke up that one of the Irishmen threw me in the face with water. I am better I will not quote that tirade, which I gave him a hoarse voice in response, but you probably themselves can imagine how surprised I was .... In any case, I had to get up to catch a bus to the former Auschwitz-Birkenau and then to the salt mines. Most of the way I slept, but I still managed to get acquainted with a young American who turned out to be one year disaccustomed the University of Arizona, and then transferred to the University of Kansas. The route of his journey was much longer than mine. It was about mid way, and I had to visit several countries in Western Europe. Auschwitz barracks behind barbed wire trip to Auschwitz was not an easy challenge. Nothing can prepare a very strong emotional scars from the visit to the vast death camp. Our guide was restrained and sufficiently scrupulous, taking into account the free tour, and cameras with things that once belonged to Jews who died here, nobody can remain indifferent. When we went to Birkenau, I could not help noticing his incredible size. I can only say that the width of the camp, but it was much less than its length was more than a kilometer. In periods of peak congestion in the camp Auschwitz contained 135,000 inmates. To this figure must be added another 100 thousand, which could be placed in the camp at Birkenau. When we climbed the high tower to the top to look at Birkenau, we were told that in order to understand how Jews, Poles, Hungarians, Gypsies, etc. here were killed during the camp's existence, we must imagine the crowded camp, and multiply that number by 11. And to imagine how many Jews died in all during the reign of the Nazis, it was necessary to multiply this number by another 60. Difficult to find words to describe the feeling which arises here. Auschwitz-Birkenau, Salt Mine looked a little strange after a visit to Auschwitz. Although it was quite interesting to go down into the earth to a depth of 100 meters and look at the huge number of statues and churches, created entirely from salt deposits. Our guide even showed us a replica of the famous fresco "The Last Supper", created out of salt. After that I returned to the hotel, where a fun time with the Irish and a few Poles, with whom we met in a bar last night. It was a little hard to have fun after such excursions, but on the other hand, I'm glad I went into the mines because this trip I was a little dampened. Without her I would be very tight. Auschwitz, the landscape of grief I would like to take this opportunity during my stay in Krakow, before heading to Budapest for a couple of days to go to the mountains, which are located on the territory of Slovakia. But ticket prices were too high, so the next day I was forced to sit on the night train to the Hungarian capital. Over the previous two days I managed to see almost all the attractions of the city, so to kill time before the departure of the train which was leaving at 10 pm (or 22 hours, so it will be correct, and that I have already started to blame for using the wrong terminology), I aimlessly walked the quarter of Kazimierz, and even spent some time in Krakow supermarket, trying to find there some souvenirs for family and friends. A little strange to stay in the city for such a long period of time, because since my departure from Helsinki, I never particularly did not stay (although it has only a few days, I guess I just like somewhere to go permanent). Salt Mines in my coupe, a six-man, has settled a group of cheerful shotlandok and one extremely brown Swede, who could become a white version of the singer Queen Latifah, with long blond hair. I know that sounds awfully similar comparison is humiliating, but I would not mention this, if he himself did not say about himself at our first acquaintance. Before we all fell asleep, it was the funniest hour of my life, we just laughed themselves to death. We arrived in Budapest the next morning, I immediately felt that I was once hot, I even started to sweat (ts-s-s!). Should be the first time since my trip to Moscow, the street was finally warm. Prior to his arrival in town I do not anything about him did not know was that I lost pretty quickly. Had to resort to the already accumulated during his stay in Moscow techniques of body language to find your way back. I got to the hotel which is located in the center of Pest (the flat bank of the Danube, Budapest is located on the hilly coast). I lied when I stayed here three weeks ago, I was told (lied, yes, but it worked) in this same hotel when I come back here, I can leave here on the day of my things while I wait the train. I suppose I could just ask for it, because to my situation was treated with understanding and even offered to take a shower and enjoy a free breakfast (all of it even with the "unimportant" facts that I did not pay for the room). I accepted their offer, but mostly glad that I did not have to pay for a locker at the station. In addition, I immediately met with a couple from Canada. They, as well as I wanted to go to walk around the city. We went to the House of Terror, had lunch in one of the places of gathering staff of the Hungarian KGB, and then went to the hills of Buda, to look at the local castles and take some photos.
