Unique island of Socotra (continued, p.2), I splurged lavash, which is usually eaten in Yemen, processed cheese and jam. We put the tent and went back to Haddibu to buy more food for the evening, which I planned to take place in the mountains. I did not want to return to Hadibo, but it was a necessary evil. We stopped at the local fish market and bought a lot of fish. The market was crowded, but I noticed that this does not sell or squid, or shrimp or crabs or other crustaceans. Probably, here eat only fish and nothing else. We went to the Dixie National Park, where there are dragon tree, a unique plant, which can be found only on Socotra. Road climbs uphill, and soon moved to a dirt road. We stayed on the lookout. From the moment trip became quite difficult. On the way were the big boulders. Fortunate that the jeep was not defective. We are slowly moving toward uedi, and then stopped to take some pictures of flowering bottle tree. It was a very beautiful dwarf trees of unusual shape. Unappreciated by local residents delicacy bumpy road down to the river dried up, and got there, we had a rest. It seems that this parched river called Derhar. While Ali was preparing lunch, I explored the neighborhood. I managed to find water, but it was something green and sticky, in addition, it was full of bugs. I went a little further along the bed of a dried-up river. I soon came to a small lake, which is quite possible to swim and even dive! But best of all was the fact that apart from me there was nobody there. The driver, Ali at the fish market I pose as Chris Winterman. Chris - is an Englishman, who was my companion in Chile. He undressed in front of a camera because his friend took him to a "weak". But you probably already heard this story. Although, of course, it would be better to do all this with my friends, but most of them were frightened when they learned that Socotra is a part of Yemen. You should not blame them, security in Yemen - primarily, but also in Socotra is quite safe, she is like away from all the major events in the region. Long before my arrival here on a tourist from Australia, I learned that in order to come to Socotra, you need a special permit, because a lot of roadblocks on the island, although now everything is much quieter. Hadibo I returned to our camp, where Ali and some old shepherd drank tea. Dinner was ready. It was delicious. Ali took with him a different kitchen appliances, including gas burner, so you can cook. Goats and vultures, which is here very much looking forward to when they can feast on the remnants of our meal. Sometimes it seemed that the island is teeming with goats. In Hadibo they feed on garbage and cardboard boxes, so that when Ali asked me whether I liked the goat for dinner, I promptly said no. The next 10 days I'll just eat fish! We packed up and drove back towards the mountains, occasionally stopping to make a couple of stunning images dragon trees. They look like giant ears of broccoli! We drove up until they reached a small village, which is located in the mountains called Fermehen. There decided to stop and make camp. Ali said that I can go for a walk in the woods, so I immediately went to investigate. When evening came, it was cloudy and hot. I went down the path and saw the camel, who, seeing me, he decided quickly galloped off. He was hobbled, so far he could not escape. I did not pay attention to his efforts, but still took a few photos, because he looked good against the backdrop of dragon trees. I found a small rock on which grew bottle and the dragon tree, along with some very strange plants. And again, I was all alone, there are no tourists. Shortly after the tent has been installed, it started to rain, and then a few minutes walking downpour. I'm tired, so stayed in the tent, while Ali was preparing dinner. He drank tea and prayed with the family of local residents. Their little boy helped me find a good place for a tent. After supper, I climbed into the tent and slept well, despite the rain. At night, I enjoyed watching the dragon tree silhouettes. I felt like I was in dreamland! Start material: Completion of material:
