FATE NOT JUST Whisper: "Mercy, BAKU!" (The ending part 2) End of Ramadan - the traditional time for weddings. And this year, it seems, it is also time for the funeral. During the funeral, the streets make a big tent in which we think are mourning. Quite frustrating when the taxi is stuck in one of these streets, and have to find a detour. Funeral tents Old Town - now a maze of streets, which for some reason a lot of vendors selling carpets. We have great walk, saw a lot of monuments and crumbling buildings that stand side by side with their restored brethren. We also saw several stores with a cap, which sold quite interesting model! We have not yet bought a hat, but as winter approaches and the temperature is lowered, we probably still have to give in to temptation. Hats Restaurant "Caravanserai" looks quite interesting. We somehow go there. As the name implies, the restaurant is located in an old caravanserai (an inn for trade caravans, approx. Perevi.), And tables are set in small rooms that are on the edges of the central courtyard. There's dancing and singing, and without a doubt, the house is designed for affluent tourists and oil workers, but not for English teachers! Maiden's Tower of the Old Town's main attraction is the Maiden's Tower. Legend has it that a princess fell in love with a young man, in defiance of her parents and her locked in a tower. She committed suicide by jumping down from a window. Apparently this is commonplace in those days! Apparently, in an architectural sense, this tower is unique, because there was only one window, although we never managed to penetrate into these scientific and historical details. In Puppet Theater a big success include the fact that we managed to get into the Russian puppet theater. Inside the building was forbidden to shoot, but could secretly photograph the mural paintings in the lobby. Some of them are colored, the other a rather grotesque. To us looked very strange present, since we came to the puppet theater without children, and were the only ones of their kind. In the hall we were not allowed to sit in the front row, because these places are for children and their parents. We had to go on long rows, almost in the gallery. In children's theater, we were without children, so we did not really complain. The play was - how shall I say ... - unusual. Action takes place on a kitchen at night and all fruits and vegetables come to life. Everything was very colorful, loud and clear. It seems a terrible evil tomato it will still be dreaming of a small audience. Wicked eggplant was also one else, for that matter, and Muscat Pumpkin! Carpets Some readers of this blog must have laughed when they heard that we were going to visit a carpet museum. Yes, there we went too. According to Azerbaijan's standards is an expensive museum - entrance cost $ 5 - each decides for himself, it was worth the sake of this exposition to spend such an amount, or not. Carpet manufacturing began in Azerbaijan more than one century ago. In the museum you can see products from all over the country, characterized by distinctive patterns and textures. Most of all we liked the room where carpets are exhibited portraits depicting famous Soviet figures. It turns out that local production of rugs symbolize different periods of the existence of the people of Azerbaijan. The second floor is a small theater museum. Entrance there is free, and it is worth it to spend 15 minutes and see where the exposed artifacts. True, if you know about the Russian and Azerbaijani theater a little more, this museum you will find more interesting. As you already knew we liked Baku in all respects! Everyone is strongly recommended to come here and see the city and its attractions! Start material:
