Temple on the water and the city on a volcano - part 2

JAPANESE ALIENS AND FOREIGN Japanese (continued, p.2) Adam was a great kauchserferom. Embodiment of all that I like and dislike the Americans. He was damn straight, arrogant, peremptory and unlikely to let me or his Japanese girlfriend Mayumi insert a word for the whole evening. However, he also cooks well and was cordial host. While I take a shower, friendly young man managed to make real spaghetti with meat sauce. Mayumi they were very funny, always made fun of each other. The evening went on, the beer that I have brought with them ended, and I began to serve as an interpreter of emotions between the two that was very funny. The British, as we discovered, are a kind of bridge between the cultures of moderate and loyal to the Japanese and straightforward, and terribly independent Americans. Thus, I was able to stay in the role of the therapist, because they both understood perfectly. Or, as we suggested - by the time we drank too much. Adam liked me more for the reason that with him we could discuss the topic of cultural differences and stereotypes about the Japanese, which, as everyone knows, is one of my favorites. She also became one of the main reasons that I decided to come to Japan. Before coming to Japan, I read the book, Will Ferguson (Canadian writer and traveler best known for his books about Canada and about the people of this country, approx. Perevi.) "Hokkaido Highway Blues". It tells the story of one Canadian in Japan (this deep and at the same time very funny book I highly recommend it to everybody) and I wanted to see what stereotypes Adam, who lived in the country for six years, believes true. From him I certainly could learn a lot more than during those five weeks that I spent in Japan. Floating church only a small uncomfortable moment occurred at night, when Adam finally shut down, and Mayumi with all her characteristic simplicity began to ask me for advice regarding their relationships. They have, in general, something went wrong, because as far as I can tell, Adam his girlfriend is not very respected and gave her to speak even less than me. He even talked about it in the third person in her presence, though she did not understand what he says! In general, Mayumi told me about these nuances and asked me is it ok for a man from the West, and it is not too lively for all this reaction. This turn of events put me in a bad situation. I tried not to pay attention to many things at the same time make it so that it felt like a paranoid bitch. Recently received from her email, maybe we had become friends. She is so cute, I was very uncomfortable! Temple torii gate the next morning, Adam was still in a state of sedated. I followed their advice and headed along the coast on a day trip to the island of Miyajima, which is located in the Inland Sea of ??Japan. On this island are the famous gates of a Shinto temple - the trajectory. The island was considered so sacred that the temple was built on the pillars near the shore, and not on the island. Ordinary people were allowed to approach him only by boat, sailing through the torii gate. Today the temple is considered one of the three most famous places in Japan that are famous for their scenery, so I'm a little worried that there will be crowds of tourists. But to me this place is very strongly recommended, so I decided to go, though not on that. The Japanese, by the way, even more turned on making different lists than I am: in addition to the three places, famous for its scenery, there are 100 more beautiful reservoirs, 50 exquisite waterfalls, 50 of the most remarkable streets, 3 seats with the most disappointing landscapes ... I wish I could know who spend their time compiling lists and vote for all this diversity? View of the bay from the temple Although Miyajima was very beautiful place. The day was hot, and we arrived at high tide, so that the temple gate and looked well. All this is somewhat reminiscent of the tropics: clear water and verdant mountains in the distance. I even took off his shoes and socks and a little visit quite a bit bare feet in the water, a little surprised that nobody else does that. And then I saw a whole flock of jellyfish that were floating around me. There were many tourists, but I realized that Japanese tourists I'm not very worried. Over, they go to groups and are constantly taking pictures, but they do not stray into the crowd and behaved calmly and politely, do not litter and do not lead to an annoying child. In most cases tourist attraction in Japan is not a habitat for many shill! (At such moments, I begin to understand why such an extremely negative impression left on my own trip to India). I got the more problems with overly tame deer, whom I met on the island than with the owners of local shops. Two of them have stolen up to me and almost forced me to jump into the water from the breakwater, as noticed that my hand had some food. This is me about the deer, not about the owners of shops.
