INTERESTING GOODIES PEACEFUL LIFE Davina French, U.S. Army troops in the peacekeeping force today, our route went through the hills and very familiar mountains that stretch along both sides of the border. Typically, Kosovo is similar to a huge picture of the poor peasants and scenes of former battles, leaving behind devastation and chaos. But today, as we drove along the small villages, landscapes were simply amazing. I would not mind to stay in a blissful stupor, but my car, having made another difficult turn left on the streets of the bustling town of Gnjilane. Cars honking, pedestrian crossings are full of people who are somewhere in a hurry, and parking is at a premium. Drivers try to observe some sort of traffic regulations, although the mood of pedestrians and passed them. I have nobody's bumper scratch, but the situation seemed to be possessed to add excitement to our everyday routine. So, we tried to find a parking spot in a bustling market day, on Saturday afternoon. We went in circles, turning, avoided a collision with cyclists and pedestrians who strolled the streets, totally unconcerned about their own safety, and everything just to find a place to park the car and go buy yourself a handbag! Seller eggs and hedgehog Dobie Yes, some of my friends decided to try to make a single bargain in Kosovo. Handbags here are very cheap, despite the fact that they are made known manufacturers. Will be a great gift. I know there are several soldiers who had bought his entire collection of handbags in different colors and sizes, so now our turn to suffer the fate of the city market. In the end, we found a parking place, left the car and a little stroll through the streets of the city. People at us almost no notice, but I felt slightly ill at ease as he walked down the street in uniform, so even with a gun on his shoulder. Some stared, as if through us, others do not take my eyes without saying a word. But the kids looking at us, usually smiling broadly and poked his fingers in our direction. I bet that walk on these towns are much safer than travel to New York, for example. Watching what is happening around, we moved through the streets and sidewalks, and finally found a great shop where they sold handbags. Small translator in my plans was not to spend their hard earned on a handbag, which sooner or later anyway break, so I stayed on the street before entering the market. It was crowded, hundreds of people went to the market and as much out of the market. This flow of people, I decided to remove the camera. Here they sold everything, everything: from cheap mobile phones and color to meat and vegetables home. Near shopping bags, right on the sidewalk, was a man who sold fresh eggs. A bit strange, but he did not sell at ten, and the piece. Fit the buyer, they exchanged greetings and then the man took a few eggs, carefully wrapped them in paper and handed them to his client as if they were made of gold. He became interested in toy hedgehog Dobie, which I carry with me, and said that he could hold it if I wanted him to photograph them. I gave him some money for what he spent on my own time, and he seemed very happy. I guess I gave him enough money to buy a dozen eggs. Just people I've been so busy with everything that happened around that had not even noticed, as I was approached by a boy of about 10-11. Just hear someone say: "I can tell you to translate!" I looked at him and made a gesture that clearly made it clear that he was gone, and I have no need of his services. However, he was very stubborn: "Seriously, Major! I can help you. " I looked at him in amazement. He is not only well spoken in English, but even to determine my rank. He said that I was serving in the KFOR (Kosovo Force, an international force led by NATO, approx. Perevi.), And he always wanted to translate to Americans. Hmmm. He obviously knows about us quite a lot, although I did not say another word. I still tried not to pay attention to him, but this tactic has not worked. Read more:
